Moore said that the PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls will retain what players love about the PS3 version, while improving aspects of the original — and making a few small, but surprising changes along the way. After taking TG88 , players will find a Fat Official guarding a balcony. Once the Official is killed, players can access the balcony and retrieve the Crushing Battle Axe +1. Since the Crushing Battle Axe is a Strength weapon, players should stick to a Strength build if they plan on upgrading it further. A white world Tendency will reduce enemy damage making each run easier and easier as your character gets stronger from increasing stats and gaining more weapons/armor. Another one of the standard swords in the game, but who ever said that standard was bad? The Long Sword can be bought, found in the Tunnel City, or can be obtained from the start by choosing the knight class. This common weapon is the faithful weapon of any knight and can be used for almost any build.
What’s clever about this is that Demon’s Souls’ structure makes every playthrough feel different because you’re able to approach each world in new ways. For my first playthrough, I went with a magic-focused build and went to world 3 first so I could stock up on magic-replenishing consumables and unlock the NPC that grants access to the most powerful spells. But in my second playthrough with a more dexterity-driven character I bounced from world to world, picking up useful items and gear from each one before committing to beating any of them.
Be ready to face two Dreglings, one on your left and one on your right. Continue traveling until you reach a corpse that can be looted for x4 Pine Resin. Get back and now head right, you will follow a corridor until you reach a seemingly dead end. There’s a hole on the right, beware of the three Boletaria Soldiers in there. Go down the little staircase and turn right to obtain an Unknown Warrior Soul.
Before following Ostrava to the right, get into the building in front of you, at the end of the corridor you can find a Scimitar. On your right, there is a closed door and on your left a small staircase. You will find a Boletaria Soldier over a wood structure wielding a crossbow, and two more Dreglings on the ground. Beware of the gap on the floor, because falling there will automatically kill you.

The big difference to the Dark Souls Games is the fact that the game is divided in 5 Areas instead of one open world. Each Archstone, which are basically doors to the areas, are divided into 3 (or 4 for the Boletarian Palace) subareas with a boss waiting for you at the end of each of them. In usual Souls fashion you can unlock shortcuts throughout each level to make backtracking faster and easier. My first playthrough of the Remake took me roughly 24 hours, and that was with having played the original about 6 years ago, and having a ton of Souls experience. I expect this number to be a lot higher for souls veterans who have not played it before, and even higher still for newbies to the franchise. There are different options for the camera in the Remake, but none of them fix this issue, one that is particularly noticeable if you are playing a Mage build where you must be locked on a lot more often.

I’ve spent well over 30 hours with this game and I’m sure I’ll be spending four times that on subsequent playthroughs in the months to come. It’s almost everything a fan or newcomer could hope for, with just a handful of things played too safe keeping it from sheer perfection. When it was first revealed, the long-rumored Demon’s Souls remake was met with great enthusiasm, including from me. The original game’s servers are down and it remains trapped on the PS3. This is a special title, something of a cult classic that helped spawn the entire “Souls” franchise (and genre) and elevated FromSoftware’s name with spiritual successors in Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
If you turn left after the first illusory wall and attack again, another illusory door will break. This leads you outside in front of the second fog door and behind the Vanguard, you can face him now (Optional). Go back to the building, head up the stairs and take the right path. Mind the trap in the middle and obtain x1 Copper Key from the corpse near the iron door.
I need to give a special mention as well to the new ability to send items to your storage box without having to return to the Nexus. And then you’d also have to trek back to the archstone just so you could offload any unnecessary items. This is an elegant fix that still keeps the inventory management without any of the frustration.
